Short Facts about Melaka
Melaka or Malacca as most westerners call it is a small historical state in Malaysia. It was once known as the one of the most valuable territory in the Malay golden peninsular.
During the old days, it was a busy international trading port. With the Indian, Chinese, Arabs as well as the Dutch and Portuguese traders, marauders and pirates making Melaka their homes, Melaka was a thriving but also a dangerous place to live during the era.
Being rich in history and culture, Melaka in Malaysia is listed as one of the UNESCO's heritage site you should visit at least once in your lifetime

Zoo & Night Safari
Melaka Zoo is a popular attraction in Melaka, especially among the local tourists. It's smaller than the National Zoo but it is far cleaner and the animal shows are also better. It also has one of the best tiger protection facility in Asia.
If you are here during the weekend, make sure you try the horse and elephant ride. But if you hate the Malaccan heat, you might want to come in the evening for the Night Safari trip.

This River Cruise will take you on a short journey across the Melaka river, once famous for trade and spices and was the envy of the Portuguese and the Dutch.
Now, the river lies across the city centre surrounded by old bridges and luxurious riverside hotel.
If you want to see the colorful side of Melaka, try taking one of the many boats at night. The scene is more romantic in the evening.

Things are not quite like you expected when you enter the Baba and Nyonya Museum in Melaka. For starters, the museum is fascinating because it shows you the lives and history of the Baba and Nyonya, the descendants of the Chinese emperor and the majesty's armies in Melaka.
But what makes the Baba and Nyonya interesting is the fact that they adopt the Malay, Portuguese, Dutch, Indian as well as the English culture while maintaining their Chinese heritage.
Thus, the women wear kebaya dresses and sarongs like the Malays, use spices in their cooking like the Indians and decorate their house with ornaments and furnitures like English noblemen.
